Life Comes With Plot Twists, Not Trigger Warnings

Remember the good old days when we just read things without being prepped like we were about to go into emotional surgery?

We really need to talk about trigger warnings. Because apparently, people need a soft little disclaimer before reading, watching, or hearing anything mildly uncomfortable. Logic forbid, a sentence ruin your inner peace more than your unpaid EMIs already do.

Trigger Warning: This movie has sad parts.
Trigger Warning: This book contains betrayal.

Life is not curating itself to protect your emotional comfort. And now we want every piece of content to come with a pre-screened emotional disclaimer.

I’m not against empathy. But labeling everything with a “proceed with caution” sign is not awareness. It’s emotional gentrification. We’re so scared of discomfort, we’d rather be bored than challenged.

Not everything that hurts is trauma. The overuse of the word “trauma” needs a separate blog though. But not every uncomfortable feeling is a crisis. Sometimes it’s just life saying, “Hey, here’s a mirror.. look.”

So here’s a real trigger warning:
People will ghost you without closure.
Jobs will hire your less-qualified cousin.
Your passion might not pay your bills this year.

Look, discomfort isn’t always damage. Sometimes it’s just… feeling stuff. And feeling stuff is not a crime, it’s called being alive. You don’t need a siren blaring every time a piece of content has depth beyond cupcakes and dopamine.

So here’s a warning you can actually use:

Trigger Warning: This world is chaotic, unpredictable, and full of unpaid internships disguised as dreams. Please proceed accordingly.
